Out and about - Portobuffolé -
Portobuffole', a miniature jewel of
the Renaissance, is situated well off the beaten track, its alleyways
and gates appearing to envelop it in silence. It is one of the most
interesting surprises to be found anywhere in the province, and
is most definitely worth a detour.
Within the small center of Portobuffole',
there are a number of places to visit: the House of Gaia of Camino,
which has a wonderful series of frescoes; Piazza Maggiore, which
until the 19th century, played host to bullfights, as did Venice;
the Palazzetto del Monte di Pieta', the Torre comunale; the Loggia;
the Duomo (an ex-synagogue, with a painting by Francesco da Milano);
the Torresin and the Villa Giustinian, dating from the end of the
17th century.
